After a car accident and five surgeries, Beth paid an independent contractor who disappeared without completing her therapy pool. At this episode's auction, father-and-son team Darrell and Brandon Sheets purchase a mermaid fin. They take it to our partners at SwimLabs Orange County, where Coach Brett Rose identifies it as a customized, carbon-fiber 'monofin' used for sprint racing. The estimated value of the fin: $700. Anderson Live

On his daytime chat show, journalist Anderson Cooper welcomed Stephanie Nielson, the popular blogger (NieNieDialogues.com) and author (Heaven is Here). Stephanie survived a 2008 plane crash with burns over 80% of her body; the disfigurement left her uncomfortable appearing publicly in a swimsuit. At Anderson's request, Endless Pools donated a Fastlane swim-current generator for the Nielson family pool.

The Biggest Loser

Seasons 9 through 16 | Season 9 premiere airdate: January 5, 2010

To help contestants lose weight, NBC's hit reality show installed an Endless Pools Dual Propulsion model on the ranch. In addition to swimming, the pool permitted aquatic running, jogging, and walking thanks to its two hydraulic underwater treadmills. Producer David Norton called the collaboration "a natural fit. Our trainers love using the pool as a complement to their training regimen."

The Real World: Denver

For season 18 of MTV's groundbreaking reality series, seven strangers lived together in the Mile-High City. The extensive renovations to the cast's downtown residence included an Original Endless Pool, which was most appreciated by cast member Alex Smith, then a Division I swimmer at Arizona State University. The show's producers purchased the historic two-story for $2.7 million, selling the renovated building later that same year for $3.3 million.

Three Wishes

Ten-year-old Abby Castleberry was an all-star athlete until a disfiguring car accident left her skull too fragile for contact sports. Her family wished for a swimming pool that was safely indoors and had low maintenance costs. Endless Pools granted that wish. "One of the most fun things about seeing Abby get into the pool," according to her dad, Leo, "was to see her be free of her helmet, which bothers her."

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Season 1, Episode 7 | Online release date: April 11, 2004

"The Endless Pool is going to be the biggest blessing for this whole family," predicted Dawson Connor, the show's landscaper. A car accident left the Zitek family's son, Robert, paralyzed from the neck down and in need of regular aquatic therapy. "Robert actually had one of these in the hospital," host Ty Pennington noted at poolside, "but now he has one right here in his own backyard. That's pretty awesome!"

The Love Boat: The Next Wave

Season 2, Episodes 8 and 9 | Original airdates: December 18, 1998, and January 1, 1999

For the revival of Aaron Spelling's hit 1970s series, the 'next wave' came from the Endless Pools Fastlane Pro on the lido deck! Our swim-current generator had a featured role in two episodes: the Captain's son practiced his jet-ski skills against our current, and a passenger (Ian Ziering) used it to display his swimming prowess to a woman he wanted to impress.

Gattaca

Release date: October 24, 1997

In a future so dystopian that Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke are considered genetically inferior, Hawke's onscreen brother (Loren Dean) swims in an Original Endless Pool customized with ambient underwater lighting. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Art Direction/Set Decoration (yes, that includes our pool), the film earned strong reviews and developed a cult following on home video.

Season 18, Episode 22 | Original airdate: February 22, 1997

At Jim and Colleen Meigs' 1930 Pueblo Revival home in Tucson, AZ, major renovations included a brand new Endless Pools installation. Company Founder James Murdock personally oversaw the installation.

Arizona Wildcat and NCAA Champ Seth Pepper stopped by for a test-swim, approving of the smooth Endless Pools current. The veranda installation was finished in bold terracotta tile handmade in nearby Dolores Hidalgo, Mexico.
